Social Media 3/5

For my research i started off using Reddit, because it is a source i have never used. I typed in the the key words "school shooting," and immediately it brought up the horrific elementary school shooting that occurred in sandy hook Connecticut. I would have to say this is a source i would go to for everyone's opinion. This style of news is very similar to twitter. Althought this was a helpful web page i do not see myself using it in everyday life.

Personally I usually use social media to keep in touch with friends, im not really interested in what people post every second of the day

  1. Alex, good points. These social media tools are definitely a personal preference and many of us choose to use them in just the manner you mention. Reddit and Twitter do feature similar styles of news, but on Reddit there is the capacity for longer discussion and contemplation, whereas Twitter has the 140 character post limit. And most posts are indeed more opinionated rather than fact-based, but as long as those users are sharing links to different types of articles as their proof, you can critically investigate the original source before deciding be believe them or not.
